about
ROOTS is the third feature length release from UK artist j:dead. Hosting 7 original tracks including their two recently released singles Surrendering and Harbour. After launching in late 2019 j:dead have consistently evolved their musical endeavors and are quickly becoming a staple yet different act within the industrial / electronic scene. Pumping basslines and euphoric melodies all surround the heart of j:dead’s (Jay Taylor’s) warm yet driven vocals.
“The kinder parts of me, are hidden under ROOTS”, taken from their original track “Taking advantage”, encapsulates the theme behind the journey contained within the EP: There are layers of right and wrong which make up our social representations, but our true values of who we are and what we stand for are contained beneath the surface.
ROOTS will be released digitally and physically on the 1st Dec 2023 via Infacted Recordings, with the physical (limited) copy hosting a further 7 remixes, including contributions from the likes of Mesh and Aesthetic Perfection.
With over 50 digital track releases to their name since 2019, j:dead shows no sign of stopping their electronic onslaught; combining their love for british synthpop together with some of the finer examples of alternative-aggression from the modern era.

The love of my life wore a solid gray dress the first time we met, and the image came stark and clear listening to this song. We fought about shades of gray between black and white, and without a doubt she changed me in a way portrayed perfectly by these lyrics. Simple yet profound, this is the best kind of song, and the danceable production sets just the right mood.
